The first "really big" BlueLine upgrade project was recently completed on the first of twelve units at a major site in the US; glitch-free and on schedule, the customer is very enthusiastic to complete his remaining units.

The hardware of the BlueLine control system platform is categorized into three distinct section, based on deployment inside a given architecture. These sections are as follows:

  • Local bus hardware, which are:

    - installed in a local bus rack type RC01
    - actively communicating on the BlueLine I/O bus system
    - any of the following sub-types:
    -> analog process input / output modules (AI01, AI03, AI04, AO01, AO02)
    -> discrete process input / output modules (BI01, BI02, BO01, BO02)
    -> controller modules (CP01)
    -> utility modules (TD01, BE01, IA01, BE02)
    -> communications modules (SI01, DH01, DH02)

  • Intraplant bus hardware, which is capable to communicate with a legacy ABB plant bus type P42.
    -> intraplant bus gateway module (IPBGW)


  • Stand-alone devices, which are special purpose boards for very specific tasks
    -> Operation data counter (APODC)
