The 70BI03 is a 16-channel binary input module for the BlueLine and Procontrol P13 platforms. Its intended use is for SIL-3 rated shut-down applications, which require field input monitoring not only for ‘open’ and ‘closed’, but also for the ‘health’ of the wiring loop. When field devices are equipped with the proper components, the modules will be able to discretely monitor each channel for the following additional statuses: ‘Circuit Healthy’ (HE), ‘Open Loop’ (OL), ‘Short Circuit’ (SC) and ‘Over (Voltage) Range’ (OR). Both the status information and the binary contact information indications are sent to the local bus.
